Ms. Kiang has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the financial industry
NEWPORT COAST, CA,
November 1, 2017, Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of
biographical profiles, is proud to name Assumpta “Amy” Kiang a Lifetime
Achiever. An accomplished listee, Ms. Kiang celebrates many years’ experience
in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership
qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As
in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are
selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position,
noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken
into account during the selection process.
Since 1996, Ms.
Kiang has served as vice president, senior financial consultant, and wealth
management adviser at the Costa Mesa, California branch of the legacy wealth
management titan Merrill Lynch. She is proud of mobilizing her passion for
economics and finance toward the goal of helping her clients with financial
planning. Ms. Kiang is also a passionate patron of the arts and culture. In
addition to her career accomplishments, she is also a leader in numerous
professional societies and community arts and cultural organizations. She is
the recipient of many distinguished professional awards including the 2007
Community Achievement Award from Merrill Lynch.
Born in Beijing to
Pei-Yu and Yu-Jean Chao, Ms. Kiang studied at the National Taiwan University
and Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, traveling to the U.S. to serve
as a data programmer for IBM World Trade in New York City. From 1964 to 1968,
Ms. Kiang served as a librarian in the East Cleveland Public Library, and in
1965, she married Wan-Lin Kiang, and had one son, Eliot. The family moved back
to Taiwan in the ‘70s.
Ms. Kiang taught
at the National Taiwan University and served with the reference Library of USIS
(U.S. Information Service in Taiwan). Her passion for economics never waned,
and in 1977, she accepted a position with Merrill Lynch in Santa Ana,
California, as an account executive. That year, with top honors, Ms. Kiang also
completed a second master degree, MBA, with California State University at Long
Beach. Ms. Kiang belonged to the Merrill Lynch Family of Funds Strategic
Advisor Circle. Her late husband, Dr. Wan-lin Kiang (WLK), a successful
investment banker, created the Taiwan Fund (*TWN) when he was the President of
the China Development Corp., Taiwan ROC. In memory of Dr. Kiang, Ms. Kiang
later set up a family foundation. She has donated a rotunda to Bowers Museum,
Santa Ana, CA, endowed the Kiang lectureship at the University of California,
Irvine (UCI), established the WLK International Financial Research Center at
Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. She has supported numerous international
financial publications cooperating with the WLK Research Center as well as with
the Institute of Finance and Banking of the Chinese Academy of Social Science,
Beijing, China. Ms. Kiang also supported various scholarships for business
students who needed financial support.
As a prominent Chinese
American, Ms. Kiang not only has served leaders with the WLK International
Finance Center, the Institute of Finance and Banking at the Chinese Academy,
she also served on the Dean’s Council for the Department of Social Science at
UCI. From 1980 to 1982, she served with the women’s league of California State
University in Long Beach. Ms Kiang maintains membership with the American
Association of University Women, the Chinese Business Association Society of
California, and served the Chinese American Professional Women’s League, the
Pacific Rim Investment and Trade Association, the U.C.I. Chancellor’s Club, Old
Ranch Country Club, and the Center Club, where she served as a director with
the executive women’s council of Orange County. She was one of the founders of
Pan Pacific Performing Arts, Inc. and served as president and chairperson for
three terms until 2015. In 2010, she hosted a seminar in China for European
business leaders, and in 2008, she held a conference for leaders in the Chinese
gold industry.
For dedication in
finance and economics, Ms. Kiang was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes
of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who of American Women,
and Who’s Who in the World, as well as two volumes of Who’s Who in Finance and
Business.
